The
gameplay is fairly simple as you play through a series of activities
from the perspective of being in a video game. The story is a great
illustration of temptation and our need to resist it with God's help.

Adventures in Odyssey and the Sword of the Spirit (Fair)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platforms: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2008
This
game has a decent story and an animated art style that holds up fairly
well. It also has a mix of puzzles, roleplaying, and platforming.
Unfortunately, the platforming is rather difficult to control, bringing
down the overall gameplay experience.
Armor of God (Good)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Platform: Browser
Publisher: Mark Gossage, 2018
Here's
a short Christian platformer game you can play right in your browser.
Your goal is to collect the Armor of God while avoiding the spikes,
making jumps across pits, and landing on moving platforms. It's a fun
game that doesn't take too long and will give you a good review of the
applicable passage.
+ + +
Axys Adventures: Truth Seeker (Good, Review)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: PC
Publisher: Rebel Planet Creations, 2007
This
is one of the best Christian video games in the Action / RPG genre.
The graphics leave a little to be desired (it's a few years old), but
the story is intriguing, and the gameplay is phenomenal. You're battling
monsters with your sword and figuring out puzzles like you would in the
best Action RPG games.
+ + +
BibleMan: A Fight for the Faith (Good)
![]() |
Purchase, if you can find it! |
Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: Covenant Studios, 2005
Based
off of the episode of the series, you play as BibleMan and his
teammates, defending the city against the Wacky Professor. Is it campy?
Yes! That's part of what makes it fun. Also, the cutscenes are from the
TV show, which brings back a lot of nostalgia for certain gamers. The
only detriment is that gameplay can be a little slow, as you can only
defend rather than attack.
+ + +
Bible Adventures (Fair)
Platforms: NES, Sega Genesis
![]() |
Purchase on Amazon or Steam |
Platforms: NES, Sega Genesis
Publisher: Wisdom Tree, 1991
This retro platformer can still be a lot of fun as you play through the stories of Noah's Ark, Baby Moses, and David and Goliath. Just don't expect too much of a challenge.
+ + +
You
play platforming levels in different food-themed areas as well as
answer trivia questions in this board game. It's an odd gem in the
Christian video game genre, suitable for the true connoisseur.
+ + +
Bible Smuggler (Good)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Platform: Browser
Publisher: Mark Gossage, 2018
In
this Christian action game, you have to avoid the watchmen who are
trying to prevent you from delivering Bibles to the houses. It's a fun,
challenging game, although short because it was made for a game jam.
There's no music, just some sound effects, and there's no story. This
little game focuses on gameplay only. It's free, so give it a try and
see how well you do on your stealthy Bible delivery.
+ + +
Break-Out the Bible (Excellent)
![]() |
Purchase from Amazon or the publisher's website |
Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: DivineGames, 2002
Bounce
the ball into the pieces to score points and reveal the Bible verse and
graphic. There are three difficulty modes that determine the speed of
the ball and plenty of levels to provide for extended gameplay.
+ + +
Defender of the Faith: The Adventures of David (Fair)
+ + +
![]() |
Purchase (another rare one!) |
Platform: DOS
Publisher: Solid Rock Software, 1992
Fight
your way through the stories of David's life in this combat-heavy game.
You'll get a review of the Shepherd-King's life, but you might also get
frustrated with the controls as you try to survive the enemies coming
at you.
Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land (Good)
This
is a fun but repetitive dungeon crawler game shooting Ws (the Word) at
enemies and barriers as you defeat Pharaoh's magicians and collect manna
to advance to the next level. To continue, you have to answer multiple
choice trivia questions about the Biblical story. Between each level,
you'll see a scene from Moses' life.
FIVE: Champions of Canaan (Fair)
Your
mission: infiltrate the arenas to disrupt the sacrifices to Moloch. The
gameplay: repetitive. This is mostly a fighting game. The graphics are
great, and the ability to upgrade your gear is a plus, but there's not
much to the story. If you simply want some quick-paced fun, Champions of
Canaan can hit the spot, but there's not enough depth here to play for
an extended period.
Play as 5 of David's mighty men as you walk through some of the major events in the famous king's life.
Guardian Light of the World (Fair)
Also known as GLOW
There
isn't much Christian content to this game, and it does get a little
bloody. You're a knight trying to recover the Ten Commandments for your
kingdom (don't ask me how your kingdom got the Ten Commandments).
There's a prayer of salvation you can read on the title screen, and the
game is set up to say that you're fighting demons in your quest. You
also gather Bibles as your powerups. Despite the thin Christian skin on
this monster-hacker, my main complaint is that the movement and aiming
are difficult to control.

Control
Joshua as you race against the clock to collect enough resources to
exit each level. Joshua uses his horn to defeat enemies. At the end of
each level, you also need to answer multiple choice questions on the
story of Joshua.
King of Kings: The Early Years (Good)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: NES
Publisher: Wisdom Tree, 1991
This
is a three-in-one game of playing the Wise Men as they collect their
gifts and head to Bethlehem, the Holy Family as they flee to Egypt, and
Joseph and Mary as they search for the Boy Jesus at the Temple. You have
to avoid traps and enemies while answering trivia questions for points.
You'll also see a scene from the early years of Jesus' life at
appropriate points in the game.
LarryBoy and the Bad Apple (Good)
Play
as LarryBoy's superhero alter ego in this 3D platformer as you learn to
fight temptation. The graphics are nice and clean for this title, and
the story and gameplay are entertaining enough to still please a modern
gamer.
Light Rangers: Mending the Maniac Madness (Excellent)
+ + +
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2005
The
Light Rangers receive their mission from their mastermind Sunday School
teacher and need to save the children of Angeltown from various sinful
attitudes caused by the Maniac Brainiac. It's a great game with a good
story, fun animation, and plenty of platforming action. There's also
just the right amount of Christian teaching. As a bonus, you can play a
Christian trivia game.
MightyNoah Adventure Game (Good)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Platforms: Android
Publisher: Doroncreations Inc, 2018
This
is a pretty fun reaction game. You swipe the ark left and right to
avoid dangers and collect coins, health, and shields. The scenery and
obstacles and varied and look great. The music adds to the sense of
adventure. When the durability of your ark gets too low, you can either
pay coins to restore it and keep going, or answer three trivia questions
to keep going. You can also watch an ad, but there is no invasive
advertising. I don't think this is a game that will keep your attention
for long, but it's fun to try out and see how far you can get floating
on the waters of the flood.
Moses Freedom Fighter (Fair)
This
is a variety game with each of the seven levels representing a
different event in Moses' life with a different style of gameplay.
You'll experience everything from platforming to Tetris to boxing to
aiming to gem-matching. The game is generally is well-done for a
collection of mini-games.
Noah's Elephant in the Room (Good)
Ride
Noah's elephant through the Ark, avoiding Noah's sons, who are trying
to ruin his good time. If you want to a boost, you can memorize Bible
verses and upgrade your elephant. It's a fun game to play around with,
but don't expect it to keep your attention for long. Thankfully, it
doesn't have to since it's free to play.

NIV Bible & the 20 Lost Levels of Joshua (Fair)
![]() |
Purchase (a rare find!) |
Platform: Game Boy
Publisher: Wisdom Tree, 1996
Read or search the Bible or play a short version of the dungeon crawler, Joshua & the Battle of Jericho reviewed above.
+ + +
Noah's Ark (Excellent)
![]() |
Purchase (this one's pretty difficult to find!) |
Platform: NES
Publisher: Konami, 1992
Play
as Noah gathering the animals across all seven continents. This is a
very loose rendition of the story, though, as Noah changes form with
different power-ups and even fights some rather interesting bosses.
+ + +
Onesimus: A Quest for Freedom (Good)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: DOS
Publisher: Ark Multimedia Publishing, 1992
Play
as runaway slave Onesimus referenced in the book of Philemon in this
platformer. The sound effects and music are very rockin', and the game
is fairly challenging. You'll find Bible verses in the levels, but other
than that, there's not much real Christian content in this game.
+ + +
The Pilgrim's Progress (Good, Review)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: PC
Publisher: Scott Cawthorn, 2011
This
is a fun game with simple but clean graphics telling the classic Paul
Bunyan allegory in an RPG style. It's a good one for engaging action and
your spiritual mind at the same time.
+ + +
Sight's Adventure (Poor)
What
is going on in this game?! The amateur art style would be charming if I
could understand the story. You start walking around your town with no
objective of where to go. Along the way, you meet friends and collect
different neckties that give you different abilities. At certain points,
you have to answer a trivia question based on a Bible verse. I feel
like there's the beginnings of something worth playing here, but for
now, it's all just a bit too random.
+ + +
Spiritual Warfare (Fair)
+ + +
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: NES, Game Boy, Sega Genesis
Publisher: Wisdom Tree, 1992
Use
the Armor of God and the Fruit of the Spirit to battle (convert) souls.
This game has a good premise but lacks a story to hook the player,
relying solely on the theme and gameplay.
Sunday Funday: The Ride (Poor)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: NES
Publisher: Wisdom Tree, 1995
Ride
your skateboard and dodge bullies on your way to Sunday School. While
Christian-themed, there isn't much content to this one.
+ + +
Timothy and Titus (Excellent)
![]() |
Purchase |
Platform: PC
Publisher: White Knight Games, 2006
This is a great (but short) action game in which you control Timothy and Titus seeking to recover Pauls stolen letters. Now, who would want Paul's letters to be lost? That's right, there are enemies to fight in this game, but it's a fairly non-violent game with the human enemies converting to Christianity when you defeat them.

Christian Card Video Games
Mt. Doubt: christian solitaire game (Poor)
I
feel like this game has potential, but it's not really playable yet.
The graphics, sound, game interface are all very nice, but it's
confusing to get started. When I finally understood what was happening, I
realized that there was no strategy to the game. It all depends on the
luck of the draw. You need to draw the right cards to match the Pray,
Learn, Fellowship, and Serve points needed to overcome each
doubt/temptation. Your points reset after each doubt, so you have to
start over.
I could be missing something, but that's what I go out of my trial run with the game. I'd like to encourage the developer to keep working on it as I think this could be a very neat app.

Redemption: Victory at Hebron (Excellent)
This
trading card video game was a real find for me! With a story and 3D
exploration to go with it, this is the perfect game for anyone who
enjoys card battling. The game still looks and runs great today.
Christian Hidden Object Video Games
Hidden Object - Psalms (Poor)
There's
a Bible verse on the screen and an instrumental melody of an old hymn,
but I can't see the point of the objects you're supposed to find. They
don't seem to have anything to do with the verse. Plus, every time you
complete a level, there's an annoying pop-up ad. You also need to pay to
unlock new levels. It might be worth it if the levels were challenging,
but they're not. I can't recommend this game for anything more than the
artwork.
Christian Jigsaw Puzzle Video Games
Bible Puzzle Game (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: BetterAppz, 2016
This game is good if you want to build up to a challenge. Each puzzle is divided into more pieces as you progress. The classical artwork is also a plus for the app. It looks like a slide puzzle, but it's not. You simply drag and drop the pieces where you want them to go. You can see the picture you're trying to create by pressing the Peek button three times per puzzle. The downside is that you can't choose which puzzle you want to do until you unlock it by progressing through the levels in the order the game sets for you.

Christian Jigsaw Puzzle (Good)

Platform: Android
Publisher: Kaya, 2016
I
like this app because there's a wide variety of images to choose from
and you can control how many pieces to break your puzzle into, from as
low as 9 pieces to as high as 64. You also get 5 hints to help you if
you get stuck. There are some ads, but they're easy enough to ignore.

Christian Puzzle Game (Excellent)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Platform: Android
Publisher: Fun Apps and Games by SCHACH, 2015
I
recommend this jigsaw puzzle game because 1) you can choose how many
pieces you break your puzzle into, ranging from 9 to 100, 2) you can
unlock new puzzles by watching an ad or waiting for a day to unlock it,
and 3) there are a decent number of puzzles in a variety of styles.
+ + +
Daily Bible Jigsaw (Good)
![]() |
Play for free on Facebook, Android, or iOS! |
Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2017
This
is a simple jigsaw puzzle game with limited appeal and limited game
time. What I mean is that all of the puzzles are of the "cute" variety,
are easy to complete, and only offer one puzzle per day. That being
said, that might be great for some people. Personally, I would like more
variety in the picture styles. What I do like about the game is that it
presents each puzzle with a Bible verse and allows you to save the
pictures and share them.
+ + +
God and Jesus Jigsaw Puzzle (Good)
Publisher: Kaya, 2015
This
is another jigsaw puzzle from Kaya with lots of classical images to
choose from and the choice to go from 9 to 100 pieces. You can also
close the app and pick up right where you left off, which is a nice
touch that some apps don't include. There are ads, but they're not too
invasive. You can also watch ads to unlock new puzzles, which seems fair
to the developer. They need to make an income somehow!
+ + +
God and Jesus Jigsaw Puzzles (Good)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Platform: Android
Publisher: help7daysapps, 2018
This
is a high-quality jigsaw puzzle game. The only downside is that you
can't choose which puzzle you want to do until you unlock it by
completing the puzzles that come before it. You can't even see the
images that are coming up! And speaking of seeing the images, you can't
refer back to the picture that you're trying to complete. Nor can you
save your progress mid-puzzle.
+ + +
Jesus Bible Jigsaw Puzzles (Poor)
This
game does have some good things going for it. You can choose to play a
12-piece or 30-piece puzzle, for instance, and it has fun music. The
images that the developer chose are also varied and artistic. But there
are only 12 puzzles to choose from, and if you choose a 30-piece puzzle,
it will only show you 8 pieces at a time. Plus, you have to exit the
puzzle to see the image you're trying to make again. Altogether, I
wouldn't recommend this game.
Jigsaw Puzzle - Jesus Jigsaw Christian Games (Fair)
I
like the music. I like that you can play in three different modes
(Classic, Switch, and Slider). You can also choose how large to make
your puzzle (from 3x3 to 7x7) and whether you want to challenge yourself
with a timer or a move limit. The drawbacks are the popup ads, the fact
that pieces overlap each other when you choose a large puzzle, and that
you can't choose which puzzle to do. Also, you only get to look at the
image for a few seconds before it breaks into its pieces.
Puzzle Jesus Christ (Fair)

Publisher: Kaliash Dabhi, 2019
This is a sliding puzzle. You have to move the tiles around to get them in the correct order. You can choose to make your puzzle different sizes (from 3x3 up to 6x6). You start with one image and unlock others as you complete each stage. This is a very simple puzzle app that I would rate higher if it weren't for the high number of ads you have to watch. Basically, every time you press a button, a new ad pops up.

Puzzles of the Bible - Jigsaw Games (Good)
In
this jigsaw puzzle game, you can choose the size of your puzzle (from
16 to 160 pieces) and sort the edged pieces to one side automatically.
You can also always pull up the image you're putting together for
reference. Unfortunately, there's no way to save your progress if you
need to close the app. You'll also get the random pop-up ad that you
need to watch before you can continue with the game.

If
you enjoy singing, you'll enjoy these games. With over 40 songs each
and the ability to play with up to 4 people, it should provide a lot of
fun for a long time. Each game comes with a microphone and includes a
variety of songs. There are also mini-games to help you hone your vocal
skills, and you can unlock outfits for your avatar to wear and different
venues to sing at.

Adventures in Odyssey and the Treasure of the Incas (Excellent)
Platforms: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2005
Get
ready for a treasure hunt as you try to solve the mystery of Eugene's
missing parents. You play as Eugene, Connie, and Whit in this puzzle
game. There are also plenty of animated cutscenes and the great voice
acting fans of the series love to help move the story forward.
Airship Genesis: Pathway to Jesus (Fair)
I
really enjoy the concept of this game. Your time-traveling spaceship
crash lands in Biblical times. Your goal is to find your missing
shipmates and the power cells for the ship. Along the way, you and your
companions discuss spiritual matters and witness Biblical events. The
gameplay, however, is a bit tedious. You're confined to walk on certain
paths and have to swipe for the character to take each step. It's
supposed to be a puzzle to get around certain objects, but the puzzles
aren't challenging at all, even for children.
aMazing Bible (Excellent)
This
is a different sort of game that has you moving a red and blue ball
simultaneously through different mazes as you walk through the Bible.
Each maze is different, and you can do different things to get through
them, so you won't get bored easily. It's a fun challenge and a review
of major portions of the Bible at the same.
Christian Memory Game (Good)
![]() |
Play for free! |
Publisher: Foundation Mir, 2012
This
game presents a good variety with 3 difficulty modes (which determines
how many cards on the board) and three themes: Jesus, saints, or
symbols. I would say that the saints theme isn't of much interest,
though, unless you know who is being depicted in the pictures.
+ + +
Christian Puzzle - Bible Game (Good)
Publisher: iDailybread, 2017
This
is a game in which you slide the tiles around until you get them all
lined up correctly to complete the Bible verse and picture. It's a good
learning game because you constantly have to study the verse to put it
in the right order. There's no sound or music to this game, though,
which would make it even more engaging.
+ + +
The Game of the Bible (Good)
![]() |

Platform: Android
Publisher: GrupoAlamar, 2017
This
is a simple kind of game that will have you thinking. You have to match
tiles from one side of the screen to the other, but you can only do so
if they're not surrounded. There are multiple ways to solve each puzzle,
and they get more difficult as you progress in the game. With 125
levels, this app will keep you plenty busy. Plus, it's attractive and
has pleasant sound effects and music. The only downside is that an ad
will play after you complete each puzzle.

This is a beautiful game that, unfortunately (but understandably), has received a lot of hate. You play Joshua, an astronaut, who is taken to Heaven after your ship malfunctions. There, you solve puzzles as you progress deeper and deeper into the landscape of Heaven. It is a very Biblically based game. The problem is that your guide shows a little too much cleavage. But one could argue that in Heaven, we'll all be pure of mind and able to appreciate the beauty of the female form as God created it. Either way, it's definitely worth playing through if you can get past this one visual issue.

Keys of the Kingdom (Good)
This
is a fun one for those who like movement puzzles. You solve the puzzle
by blowing up blocks and moving the key to the lock. Sounds simple, but
it does make you think. It also displays a new Bible verse every time
you defeat a puzzle. The verses are the real Keys of the Kingdom.
Nacah (Poor) and Isles of Derek (Fair)
This
is an exploratory puzzle game that doesn't quite hit the mark when it
comes to gameplay, though the second game is notably better than the
first.
Pangolin's Puzzle (Good, Review)
![]() |
Purchase on Android or iOS |
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Hero Factor Games, 2018
This is a story-based series of challenging logic puzzles, perfect for when you want to exercise your deduction skills.
Praise Block (Good)
In
this movement puzzle game, you need to get the block that says "You"
through the opening on the other side of the board. But there are other
words blocking your way. These are the attitudes or sins that can get in
our way of praising God.
The key for the puzzle is that you can only move horizontal blocks from side to side and vertical blocks up and down. You earn points based on how many moves it takes you to solve the puzzle, and each one gets a little more difficult. It's a fairly addictive game, and though there are a lot of pop-up ads, you can close them as soon as they show up.

Through the Shadows: The Darkness Revealed (Good)
This
is a mysterious, immersive, first-person puzzler/visual novel that
finds you all alone in a world seeking to find the truth. This is the
first of what was to be a series of games that didn't continue, so, as
the creator described it, you can think of it as the first novel in a
series. It's still worth playing, but don't expect a completely tidy
ending.

The Tomb of Moses (Good)
Platform: PC
Publisher: Vidia Entertainment, 2009
This is a puzzle game with still-decent 3D graphics. Archaeologist Professor Fog has gone missing, and it's your job to go find him. Though not quite true to the Biblical understanding of where Moses is buried, the game still gives valuable information about the Exodus story and the man whom God used to accomplish it.

This

playing this story-driven adventure. You'll play a party of heroes
looking to find the truth about the Creator's prophecies and, hopefully,
end a war. In the meantime, you'll level up your skills and gear and
explore a wide landscape with lots of people to chat with. If you like
RPGs, try this one. It's free. It does have magic in it, though, so it
might not be suitable for all Christians.

Wow!
This is an impressive game, and I certainly hope Scarlet City continues
the series. Right now, you can play through the first 3 episodes in
which you help the Scarlet Man (Jesus) restore The Great Engineer (God
the Father) to the throne of this steampunk kingdom. The graphics are
great, the gameplay is great, and there is plenty of allegorical content
referencing Biblical stories. This is a must-play game for any
Christian gamer.

This
is a very retro-style RPG but has all the classic elements of story,
turn-based battles, leveling up, and loot. You play as Jimmy and the
friends he gathers in this very Chrisitan adventure. The highlight of
the game for me was the battle system, which wasn't very challenging,
but it does allow you to aim, and if the enemies are lined up right, you
can hit two at once. Still, there are too random many battles to enjoy
this combat mechanic for very long. The story itself is fairly
interesting if a bit tongue-in-cheek.

Play

sake of the game. I also appreciate all the humor in the game.

This
game is available only on Facebook. You'll play as a witness to the
life of Christ and interact with people of the day, including Romans,
Pharisees, and Jewish believers and nonbelievers, playing through
real-life scenarios and helping to minister to them as you see fit. The
one complaint I have about the game is that it makes you do mundane
activities, such as chopping wood or clearing thornbushes to be able to
get close enough to the Biblical scene. Still, for free, it's worth
playing around in, even if you decide not to finish it.

In
this RPG Maker game (the same engine I used to make Alpha/Omega), you
play as Paul and experience some of his story. The townspeople quiz you

game is rather simple and uses a lot of the default settings of the game

Soldier of God (Poor but Promising)
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: M633 Games, 2019
Methinks this developer published too soon. Soldier of God has the building blocks of a great game, complete with smooth controls, nice graphics, and relevant teaching, but the world feels very empty at this point. You can fight demons in the field and take on quests, but combat consists of running into the enemy, and you don't get a choice of how to interact with an NPC. I'm going to keep my eye on this game for future updates. A couple of things I'd like to see is either smaller maps or more people, and a choice of what to say when you see someone. That way, you'd be able to practice how you might help someone.

Christian Matching Video Games
Bible Crush (Good)
This
is a game that has developed over several iterations. The first release
used images of Jesus, the Bible, the Ichthus fish, etc. and gave you
random verses to read after you completed the level. This newest edition
is a little more pop-culture friendly, using fruit and plants instead
of Christian images, but includes a trivia question at the end of the
level. Overall, it's very light where the Christian content is
concerned, but the gameplay is fun, and the app is well done.
Bible Gems (Excellent)
This
is a well-done computer game that walks you through Genesis as you
play. You'll hear a summary of the stories, accompanied by original
illustrations before each level. And each level is different, adding
variety to the game.
+ + +
Play the Bible Ultimate Verses (Fair)
This
game isn't very challenging, but it is fun to play for a while. All you
have to do is cover each letter of a word with the same color of tile,
and you earn points. Powerups allow you to clear words more quickly. I
like that you're reading the Bible verse as you play, and you get to
test your memory after each level by filling in missing words. It's also
fully voice acted, which is a nice touch. The one downside is that you
have to give the company your email address or log in with Facebook,
which feels a little shady. I can't think of a legitimate reason they
need my information to play a free app.
+ + +
Scripture Solitaire (Excellent)
This
is an interesting game in which you have to match parts of the verses
instead of values on the cards. There are also seven modes of solitaire
to explore, so the game doesn't get boring. Memorize Scripture and play a
challenging game at the same time!
+ + +
Stained Glass (Excellent)
This
match 3 game adds beautiful artwork and fully voiced Bible story
narrations. I particularly enjoy the paraphrased Bible stories that the
characters tell you. They're imaginative and add a fresh perspective to
the Biblical text without crossing the line into too much speculation.
Christian Shooter Video Games
There are 8 zombies attending church this morning, and one of them is the pastor! They aren't real zombies, though. They're just all in church with the wrong attitude, and you have to shoot chocolate donuts at them so that you can share some Scripture and advice with them. I love the concept, but the game is very short and is more lesson than gameplay. Still, the insights are valuable, so if you're up for paying the rather high download cost, it's worth a playthrough.
In this first-person shooter set during the time of Christian persecution under Emperor Marcus Aurelius, you play as a young Christian seeking to rescue your mentor from demon-possessed Roman soldiers. The game is light on story, but it has great gameplay, and the graphics still look pretty good. One plus is that when you defeat a human enemy, they don't die but rather kneel and pray in repentance.
Eternal War: Shadows of Light (Excellent, Review)

Ominous Horizons: A Paladin's Calling (Excellent, Review)

This
first-person medieval shooter RPG is simply fantastic. Granted, it's a
few years old now, so the graphics are a little simple, but it's still
fun. You're battling demons and Satan's horde to recover pages of
Scripture so that it can be printed for the first time.
Rionon: The Search for the Stone Statue (Excellent)
No,
it's not the most technologically advanced game, but the story is very
intriguing. You start out on the side of the pagans, looking for your
country's stone statue that the Christians supposedly stole. Maybe if
you could recover the statue, life in Rionon will turn prosperous again?
The gameplay is great, and the whole package is a lot of fun, despite
the slightly outdated graphics and development shortcuts.
Saints of Virtue (Fair)
Enter
the mind and heart of a young man battling the temptations of the
world! Unfortunately, while this game is built on a neat concept, the
gameplay is somewhat lacking. The enemies don't present much of a
challenge, and the game is fairly short. Still, it's worth playing
through once if you're looking for a clean first-person shooter. Your
weapon is the Sword of the Spirit, which shoots energy bolts.
This
is a fun game to play if you're just looking to slash some enemies. You
will pick up pieces of the armor of God to buff you, and you get a
little teaching when you do, along with the story setup at the beginning
of each level. But mostly, it's you hacking your way through the maps.
The gameplay isn't particularly challenging, though, so there's not much
replay value. The graphics are still decent considering the time it was
released.
One interesting facet of this game is that you can play from a Fallen Angel's perspective, which can raise some questions about what their motives are and were.

Christian Simulation Video Games
Buddy Quest (Good)
Publisher: Group Publishing, Inc., 2015
This
is a town-building sim with the Group Publishing "Buddies." You build
your town, invite buddies to move in, and play mini-games. It's all
pretty engaging, but you do have the normal wait times for things to
build. Of course, you can hurry things up, but that's when the in-app
purchases come in. The graphics are cute, and the gameplay in the
mini-games is surprisingly smooth.
As you play, you'll also see Real Hero Quests coming up. They relate to what you're doing in the game but require you to do something in real life to pass the quest. The first one, which I'm showing above, requires you to do some cleanup around your house after you cleaned up the town plot. The best part of this, though, is that parents can pair set it up so that they have to mark off when their child has completed the Real Life Quest rather than the player advancing automatically. It adds some control and accountability to the game.

I was excited about this game but became quickly disappointed once I started playing. You choose a category, then type in your answers. In my playthrough, I was supposed to name 7 things that had to do with Jesus' birth. The nice thing is that it accepted "shepherd" for the answer it was looking for "Flock." But it did not accept quite a few of the answers I thought it would, including "angel," "Mary," "virgin," and "census." You can ask for a hint, but it will cost you coins, and do you know what they want you to do to get more coins? Watch ads. No, thanks. And with no way to know which correct answers will be accepted, I won't spend any more time with this one.

Wow, this game is hard! But it's good if you're wanting to brush up on your Scripture memorization. It will give you a quote, and you have to tap the reference. If you miss three, it's game over. The nice thing is that you can go into study mode in which you can see the verses and references to prep for the next game. The only fault I found with this Scripture memorization game was the pop-up ads.

This
is a trivia game that goes beyond the Bible to include classic hymns.
You can choose your difficulty level, and when you get the right

The Bible Game (Excellent)
This
is a fun one to play with your friends. You're competing against up to 3
other players or the computer on a game show and answering trivia

the content and the mini-games themselves. The graphics have held up
well for a PS2-era game. I'd definitely recommend it as a group game.

BibleMania - Christian Trivia (Fair)
This might sound counterintuitive, but this app is too gamified. You earn points, have lives, and can buy coins that help you answer or skip difficult questions. The questions, however, are very easy, so you won't need most of the game's features if you're familiar with the Bible. If you're not familiar with the Bible, you're probably not going to be playing this game. One nice feature is that you can choose to read the verse that the question is based on after you submit your answer. There's are also a fair number of pop-up ads and an emphasis to watch advertising videos to get in-game perks. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't recommend spending too much time on this one.

Bible Quiz (Good)
Wow!
This one is for serious Bible students. It will give you a verse (in
King James!), and you have to choose which book it's from. It's great if
you want a challenge, but this game isn't going to be for everyone.
There are ads, but they're unobtrusive at the bottom of the screen.
+ + +
Bible Quiz (Poor)
The
only good things about this trivia game are that there are two game
modes and that it runs well. The game modes are Endless and Timed. The
Timed mode should add an element of excitement as you try to answer
questions as quickly as possible, but it felt unfair because I could
barely read the question and possible answers before my time ran out.
The mix of questions also seems unfair as there are some very easy ones
mixed in with those that are way too hard. There are also way too many
advertisements.
+ + +
Bible Quiz - Free Offline Trivia App (Fair)
When
you start a game in this Christian trivia app, you choose between Old
and New Testaments. You must then score enough points in each level to
unlock the next set of questions. The problem is that some of the
questions are wrong. For example, one question asked me to finish the
title of the book, "The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the..." Well,
depending on how your Bible names the books, any of the given answers
would have been correct. Paul wrote the letter to each of the choices:
Romans, Philippians, Colossians, and Galatians. Romans, however, was the
only answer the app would accept. I discovered that by using the hint
system. If you get stuck, you can pay 10 coins for a hint, and it will
take away one of the wrong answers.
I would rate this app higher if I could trust the accuracy of the questions more. I also wasn't a fan of the screen that pops up and tells you your score after every question. It simply delays getting to the next question. It would be better to see your score somewhere in a corner on the question screen.

Bible Sorting Game (Good)
I
really like the concept and arrangement of this game. It presents you
with words to put in order, according to how they're presented in the
Bible. The first level, for instance, has you choose the order in which
God created the different elements in Genesis 1 and 2. In the screenshot

simple game, but it's a fun, unique trivia game.

There's a lot to like about this game. First, you can decide which category to answer questions from, including Basic Questions (easy mode), or to mix them all together. Then, you can challenge yourself with a game that allows you to get three wrong answers only or set it the game to 5 minutes. Once you unlock it, you can play for an endless amount of time. Bible Trivia Game Free (Poor)
The
one good point of this app is that whether you answer correctly or
incorrectly, you can read the Bible reference to refresh your memory. On
the downside, the questions are very difficult overall. Second, you
only get to answer two or three questions before another pops up. Some
you can exit out of right way, but others, you have to watch before you
can close them. You can pay to not see the ads, but I would recommend
skipping this one altogether.

Bible Trivia Quiz (Fair)
I
like that there are three difficulty levels and various achievements to
earn. The questions are fair, and when you get a wrong answer, it

you're so inclined. Still, there's not much to this game, and there are
too many ads for my taste.

Bible Trivia Quiz Free Bible Guide (Good)
This is a simple trivia game. The only choice you make is how many questions you want to answer. Then, you have a timer for each question. At the end, it tells you how many questions you answered correctly in what amount of time. There's a good range of questions, so it's certainly worth playing if you enjoy trivia games. It also tells you the correct answer and the Scripture reference if you answer incorrectly. The best part about this app is that there are no ads. The "Free Bible Guide" part comes in when you have the option to give them your contact information and have them send you a printed guide about how to study the Bible. I didn't opt to do so, but from the topics covered, the guide does sound like it would be useful.

Bible Trivia Wheel - Bible Quiz Game (Fair)
Platform: Android

The presentation of this game isn't bad, but the focus on getting points is ridiculously distracting. It feels like you're only answering questions about a third of the time. The rest of the time, you're watching the wheel spin or your points add up, or dealing with a pop-up of some sort. Yes, you can skip all of those things, but that just makes the game too clicky. Over all, my opinion is that it doesn't put user experience first.

You're reviewing Scripture as you test your knowledge. If you don't know the missing word, you can use the hint system, where you can choose to fill in a letter, remove unnecessary letters from your pool, or solve the puzzle. You'll also see the Scripture reference, so you can look up the answer on your own. The only problem is that there's a pop-up ad every few verses. Holy Bible Quiz - Test Your Christian Faith Trivia (Fair)
The
questions in this trivia app are good, but it's lacking a lot of the
functionality of other free quiz games you can play. First, there's no
way to see the Scripture the question was taken from. You can narrow
down your choices, but that doesn't help your learning much.
The only goal of the game is to get the highest score, and you can keep playing until you answer incorrectly three times. There are also a lot of pop-up ads that break up your gameplay without warning. I do appreciate the rotating artwork displayed behind the questions, but it would be better if the art went with the question. The text itself could also use a little polish with spaces inserted after commas.

modes, a test in which you answer questions and see your results right
away, or Exam Mode in which you answer a series of questions and see
your score afterward. Exam Mode is also timed, but it's a very generous
time limit. The only detraction from this game is that it's been
translated from another language into English, so some of the phrasing
can be a little awkward.
Play the Jesus Bible Trivia Challenge Quiz Game (Good)
Despite
the awkward name, this trivia app is a cut above some of the others.
You spin a dial to land on a category for each question. If you don't
know an answer or want reinforcement, you can click to see the passage
of Scripture referenced in the question. You're also on a time for each
question, so that adds to the challenge, and the sound effects and
animations make the game more addicting than most trivia games.
Super Bible Trivia (Excellent)
There
are a lot of Christian trivia games, but this one stands out for its
mini-games. Like some of the other trivia games above, this one uses a
game show theme that you can play solo or versus other players. The
mini-games are fun because they include things like Timeline, Who Am I?,
and Name that Book, which I found particularly enjoyable.
True or False? (Bible Quiz) (Fair)
This
app runs well and looks nice, but there are a couple of detractors for
me. One is the fact that when you start the game and complete a level
(every 10 questions), you get a pop-up ad. The other downside is that
the questions are much too easy. If you're interested in playing this
game, you probably already have a working knowledge of the Bible, and
this game won't challenge you. It will, however, remind you of what you
already know and would be a good review if it weren't for the ad
interruptions. After every question, you can read the Bible verse the
question is based on.
+ + +
Versed (Bible verse game) (Excellent)
Oohhh,
I like that you can play different game modes (Reference, Verse, Fill
in the Blank, and Books of the Bible) on three difficulty settings. In
Reference, you read the chapter and verse and choose which of the four
written texts match it. Verse is just the opposite. You read the text
and choose the reference. In Fill in the Blank, you choose which order
the words go into the blanks. The spacing in this mode is off, but it
doesn't take too much away from the gameplay. The Books of the Bible
game has you arranging the books in order that they appear.
Versed is a different kind of trivia game that lends well to learning Scripture. Plus, you can't lose this game. If you answer incorrectly, it tells you to try again. Going above and beyond what I've seen most apps do, Versed allows you to choose which translation of the Bible to use: NIV, ESV, NLT, KJV, or NASB. Plus, there are no ads. It's a completely free game with nothing to buy and no interruptions. The only thing I wish this app had is some music and sound effects.

Bible Crossword (Fair)
This
crossword puzzle has a variety of questions but could be seen as a
little difficult. I would have liked to have seen more hints about where
to find the answers. I did appreciate, however, that you can check your
answers and see the correct solutions when you're finished with the
puzzle.
+ + +
Bible Crossword Puzzle (Fair)
This
isn't a crossword puzzle in the traditional sense. The only clues you
get are the letters and the spaces in the puzzle. It's a fun game to
play for a few minutes as you test yourself to see if you can combine
the letters correctly to fill in the puzzle, but I don't think it's an
app you'll want to spend a lot of time on. I did enjoy the pleasant
music and the fact that I didn't see any invasive ads.
+ + +
Bible Hangman (Good)
This
is a simple game that's fun to play. I was always curious to see what
word or phrase the next puzzle would be. And, of course, once you know
what it's spelling, you're reminded of the book, person, event, etc. The
app runs perfectly with minimal ads, so if you're a fan of Hangman,
give it a try!
+ + +
Bible Word Cross (Fair)
Swipe
the letters to make all the words that fit in the crossword grid. The
letters then fill in Bible verses. It would be better, however, if the
words had something to do with the Bible verse. It's also too easy of a
game, so I lost interest fairly quickly.
+ + +
This
is a mobile game in which you rearrange letters to form all the
possible words while reading Bible verses and answering trivia
questions. It's a good combination of activities that becomes
increasingly challenging as you play.
+ + +
Bible Word Puzzle - Free Bible Story Game (Good)
This
is an upgrade of the original Bible Word Puzzle from idailybread.org.
As you complete each set of puzzles, you get an animated picture of the
major stories of the Bible and have the opportunity to read a selection
of Scripture. You can also answer trivia questions for extra points. I
found the game to be fun and addictive. Some of the phrasing shows that
it was written by a non-native English speaker, but there are no
problems understanding the game. The one detractor is that the words
you're making in the puzzle don't seem to have anything to do with the
Bible story.
+ + +
Bible Word Search (Good)
This
word search app allows you to choose from 8 grid sizes, ranging from 5 x
5 to 18 x 18. You can also challenge yourself by choosing to play a
timed game, or you can leave the timer off. If you get stuck, you can
use a hint (doesn't cost anything) to see the first letter of one of the
words you're looking for.
There is a pop-up ad after you complete each puzzle, but since this isn't a super-spiritual app, the ads aren't a big problem. The only real complaint I found for this one is that while every word is from the Bible, many of them are very obscure. I feel like the words in a Christian puzzle should remind you of a spiritual truth or an edifying story, not merely random names. Another plus would be to have all of the words for a puzzle come from one Bible passage.

I
like the variety of game modes in this app. You can play the standard
word search game, opt to look for one word at a time, or play the timed
version if you really want to challenge yourself. You can also choose
which size your board is. In the above screenshot, I'm playing a
standard game on a large grid. It's a fun, well-put-together game. My
only complaint is that some of the words are too generic to remind you
of anything in the Bible.

This

will remind you of something in the Bible. There are three difficulty
levels to play on, so you can set yourself for the challenge you want.
There are also over 700 puzzles, enough for you to stay busy for quite a
while. The ads at the bottom aren't too invasive, and the music isn't
bad, either, so if you like word searches, give this one a try. It's
free!

I
like that there are different sizes of grids to choose from. You can
select anywhere from a 6 x 5-letter grid to a 16 x 16-letter grid. The
only reason I'm docking this game is that you can't see all of the words
you're looking for at once. You have to scroll to see all of the words,
and that's not very convenient to the player.

Daily Bible Word Search (Excellent)

Publisher: Planet 316, 2018
Here's
another daily game by Planet 316. While it's still a pretty simple
game, I like this one a little more because it's more than a game. After
you solve the short puzzle for the day, it provides you with a brief
devotional to read.

well done.
King Solomon's Word Challenge (Excellent)
Platform: PC
Publisher: Planet 316, 2014
This
is a cool 3-in-1 game, with Word Twist, Word Find, and Sling Words. In
all three game modes, you're filling in the missing words of a Bible
verse, which adds a lot of value to the game. As you complete the
levels, you earn resources to build the Temple and can actually see your
workers making progress on a fairly detailed animated rendition, which
is a nice touch.

I'm
not sure why "christian" isn't capitalized in the title of this game,
but it's a great app to play. There are three difficulty levels, and you
can choose a category. For my first game, I chose King David, so all
the words in the puzzle related to David's life. You can also click on
each word to see some background on it and where it appears in the
Bible, which is a fantastic addition to the game. When you finish each
level, there are quiz questions about the category, another nice touch
that makes this game about more than finding words. There are ads, but
they're unobtrusive down at the bottom of the screen.
Christian Video Games for Young Kids
Axel
the robot wants to start an arcade in the church, and you get to play
these mini-games! Each game has 16 or 17 game modes that you can play

are fun, and I appreciate the variety of each volume. It should make a
good past time for kids and families.
Bible Memory Game (Fair)

Publisher: i-stih, 2016
This matching game has a couple of things going for it. First, it tells an abbreviated version of the Biblical story before each set of puzzles. Second, the original artwork is very appealing to a young audience. I also appreciate the challenge of the timer. One detraction from the game is that the pictures aren't labeled, so it's easy to tell what who some of the people being depicted are, but you're left to guess who the others are. It would be better if so many stories weren't mixed in to one puzzle. Adam, for instance, could be in a puzzle with Noah.

This matching game works well enough, but I wouldn't recommend it for children. Some of the terminology isn't very kid-friendly. What child uses the words fidelity or longsuffering? The number of cards on the board also makes it difficult for small ones. Finally, the art on the cards consists of a few different styles, detracting from the overall look of the game.

This
is a fun pinball-type game with all the Breakthrough Gaming characters,
though the mechanic does get a little repetitive after a few levels.
It's good to play a couple of levels at a time, though, and there is
brief Christian teaching throughout.
This
is an edutainment game with a variety of activities for early
elementary kids. Kids can practice spelling, math, coordination, and
others while experiencing the story of the arrogant "King of the Bees"
and learning some very practical Christian teaching.
Based
on the series by Max Lucado, this is a very educational game for young
children with Christian teaching woven into the gameplay.

Each

the games are fun and engaging for young kids. Because they include
different Bible stories and activities within such a close age range, it
would definitely be worth buying all three and letting your kids

Preschool Bible stories: Creation, Noah’s Ark, Jonah, 3 Wisemen, Parable of the Lost Coin, Fishes and Loaves
Kindergarten Bible stories: Elisha & the

I'm
very impressed with this game. Younger kids can enjoy a couple of

catchy. The one problem I have with the app is that there a lot of ads
that pop up when switching from screen to screen.

The

+ + +
The
graphics are great, the voice acting is on par with the cartoon, and
following the storyline of the movie, you'll learn the (VeggieTales
version) story of Jonah. The game is composed of mini-games, though,
which might be a nice touch of variety for some people but lacks a
cohesion of gameplay for me. I don't think many children will mind that,
though!
+ + +
I
like the different categories these games offer: a couple of
Bible-based, lots of different educational games, or just fun. There's
also a story mode to each game in which the hosts, Nit and Kit or Zippy,
learn a valuable Christian lesson. Within the match games themselves,
you can play with someone else on Turn Mode or increase the challenge in
Timed Mode.
+ + +
My Place with Jesus (Poor)
This

This
memory match game presents the story of Noah's Ark with the challenge
of a timer to complete the round. You can also use power-ups to help you
get a peek at the cards and complete the round faster.
The
theme of the map is Noah's Ark, and the player gathers two of each
animal in this memory game, but the ties to Noah's Ark end there.
There's no teaching in this game. It's simply level after level of
matching animals. And with that, it does quite well. There is a lot of
variety in the animals as well as how many cards are on the board, so
the challenge does increase the further you go.
Noah's Bunny Problem (Fair)

Play for free on Android or iOS! |
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Salvation's Story, 2015
This
game is well-done for a simple app, but it favors humor more than
content. Your goal is to keep the rabbits from kissing and making more
rabbits, while also keeping the existing rabbits from falling off the
Ark. As an added bonus, you can dress Noah in different outfits, such as
this Santa outfit (which, yes, is problematic for some Christians).
Kids
will tilt their device to steer the Ark into the correct sight words.
They'll learn their words and the story of Noah's Ark at the same time.
The gameplay isn't very exciting or challenging, though, so kids might
not stick with it for very long. Fortunately, it's free, so it's worth
letting them play with as long as interest lasts.
