Fun Christian Games for Youth - Board, Card, Party, and Video Games

Fun Christian Games for Youth

Fun Christian Board Games for Youth

The Acts Board Game (Good)
Help spread the Good News and earn victory points at the same time! In this Bible game, you gain points by spreading out on the map or increasing your number of followers in a region depending on the strategies you employ and the cards you draw. It's a fun game similar to other civilization-building board games but with a much nobler purpose.

Purchase

Bible Sequence Board Game (Excellent)
Draw the cards and work with your partner to get 5 in a row before the other team does. The game will remind you of the Bible events, and there are Scripture references on the cards to look up the stories while you play. If you're looking for easy but fun board games to play, this fits the bill.

Bibleopoly Board Game (Excellent)
Like Monopoly except totally different. In this game, you help your fellow players and build a church. It's a very fun idea that turns Monopoly on its head. It's another good one if you're looking for family board games.

Late for the Sky Bibleopoly
Purchase

Champions of Faith Board Game (Excellent)
In this game, you play as a character from the Bible and have your own mission to achieve. You work your way around the board, choosing which direction you go, trying to land on the spaces that will help you achieve your goal. Meanwhile, every other player is doing something similar. If you've ever played the fantasy game Talisman, it will feel very familiar.

Purchase

Commissioned Board Game (Excellent)
Watch the gameplay video by the creator!
Build the early church, collect the Scriptures, and survive persecution in this cooperative, very strategic game.

Chara Games Commissioned
Purchase

Cranium: Bible Edition Board Game (Excellent)
One of my absolute favorite group games. It has everything from charades and Pictionary to Bible trivia and word puzzles. It's one of those board games the whole family can enjoy, no matter how old they are.

Cranium Bible Edition
Purchase

Daystar Board Game (Excellent)
Rather than a game, this is more like a simulation of the Christian life! Walk through the entire experience of being saved, developing in Christlikeness, and battling temptation in this game. There are also some trivia spaces that test your knowledge of the Bible.

Purchase

Exodus from Egypt Board Game (Good)
The art is great for this game, and the questions and board are good for reviewing or discussing the Bible story. There's not a lot of strategy to the game, though.

Exodus From Egypt Board Game
Purchase

Faith and Redemption Board Game (Excellent)
I love this game. First, you race to get the animals on the ark before the flood starts, then you travel the board seeking to avoid sins and convert as many people as possible. You have prayer and Scripture cards to help you along the way. Of course, landing on certain squares grants you bonuses as well, including forgiveness for sin cards you may have picked up during the game.

Purchase

Inspiration! Board Game (Good)
Part trivia, part strategy, part luck, there's something in this game for everyone. There are 3 play modes that increase its complexity. It's also a short game to learn and play. It's also a little different in that you're not answering questions based on the Bible but on Church history and how God has inspired His people to make scientific discoveries. The battle systems come into play as you control angels and other guardians to defeat obstacles in your path.

Purchase

The Journeys of Paul Board Game (Good)
Strategize against the other players in this game to see if you can build more churches in the places Paul visited.

Journeys of Paul Board Game
Purchase

Kings of Israel Board Game (Excellent)
Play as the prophets trying to rid Israel of idolatry before the nation is overthrown by the Assyrians! This is a fun Bible game that will get you into and thinking about the time of the kings and prophets in Israel's history. There's also a lot of variety and strategy involved, making it a very solid game. Also, check out the video game version of the game on PC or Mac!

Purchase

LifeStories Board Game: Christian Version  (Excellent)
This is a sharing game that's great for getting a group of people to talk. Use it to get to know some new friends or take it to your youth group to break the ice.

(Yes, I'm showing the back of the box on purpose.)

Purchase

Miracles and Pitfalls Board Game (Good)
Answer Bible trivia questions in this game as you move around the board. Get blessings from the miracle cards to help you, or bad luck from the pitfall cards. You can often answer the category of question that your knowledge is strongest in, but sometimes, you'll have to meet the challenge of answering a category where you might be lacking.

Purchase

Pilgrim's Progress Board Game (Good)
Coming with an illustrated book, this board game and story based on the classic allegory makes for some great discussion with your kids. Gameplay is fairly simple, though, as you mostly have to rely on the luck of the dice and what cards you pull without employing any conscious strategy.

Pilgrim's Progress: The Game
Purchase

Portals and Prophets Board Game (Excellent, Video Intro)
Have you ever wanted to go back in time to witness the events of the Bible? This game is the next best thing! It reminds us of the stories with attractive cards and requires a lot of strategy to win against your opponents.

Purchase

Redemption: City of Bondage Board Game (Excellent)
This is a very cool game based on the most successful of Bible-inspired card games. You enter the city and engage in spiritual warfare. Each enemy falls to your faith, wisdom, or good deeds.

Purchase

The Road to Bethlehem Board Game (Excellent)
This is a game similar to Dungeons & Dragons in that you have one player who narrates the story and presents you with options. The difference, of course, is that it's a game for Christians, and you play as yourself, not a character you make up. As a team, you decide what to do and participate in real-life active challenges to act out parts of the story. The game is set up in chapters so that you'll need to play a few times before you reach the end of the story.

Purchase

Settlers of Canaan Board Game (Excellent)
This edition of the famous Settlers of Catan game puts you in the shoes of one of the tribes of Israel, trying to settle your territory and organize the national capital of Jerusalem. If you like civilization building games, this one's for you.

Settlers Of Canaan
Purchase

Sola Fide - "Faith Alone" Board Game (Good)
Catholics vs. Protestants at the dawn of Martin Luther's Reformation. Which side can win the most influence over the Holy Roman Empire? This is a fairly simple game with a lot of educational value. If you're interested in the history of the Church, it's well worth playing.

Solomon's Temple Board Game (Excellent)
Race against your opponent in this game to be the first to build your temple. While you're trying to get it done, you'll also have to fight off the Babylonians, sacrifice for your people's sins, and attend to other national matters that a king of Israel would have dealt with.

Purchase

Soul of the Empire Board Game (Excellent)
Watch the promo video or gameplay video!
Looking for some combat and strategy? Try this game that pits four factions - Romans, Jews, and Christians - against each other under Nero's rule. This is a historically grounded game for serious gamers.

Soul of The Empire
Purchase

The Ungame Board Game: Christian Version (Good)
Answer questions while racing around the board. This game is a great conversation starter.

The Ungame - Christian Version
Purchase

Wisdom of Solomon Board Game (Good)
The title of this game is a little deceiving because you're not playing or making decisions as Solomon. You're acting as his governors and competing for his favor as you build the kingdom and trade resources. It does take a lot of strategy to win, and some of the cards have Bible verses written on them as the flavor text. It also puts in the mindset of the time period, so it's worth playing but don't expect much spiritual benefit from this game.

Purchase

Fun Christian Card Games for Youth

Animo: Living Deck Bible Verse Game (Excellent)
If you're looking for an alternative to Pokemon, this is it! With lots of characters and different modes of play, Animo is a definite winner for younger (and maybe some older) players. Create your deck how you want and develop the best strategy to defeat your opponent!
Purchase

The Armoury Bible Game (Excellent)
This cooperative ala trivia card game has a lot going for it. You play with a partner as either the Warrior or Bard to answer questions and score hits against the Sin boss monster. As you progress, you get to put on more pieces of the Armor of God and can earn different bonuses as rewards. There is a list of free questions on the website. You can also pay for additional Game Master packs to gear your game in a more polemical direction. The questions in these packs don't deal with the Scriptures for the sake of gaining Biblical knowledge for their own sake but for the purpose of teaching against other religious or Christian groups with whom the developer disagrees, so use your discretion.

Purchase

Bible Battles (GoodReview)
A versus battle simulation Christian card game.

Purchase

Catholic by the Number (Excellent)
Kind of like UNO, this card game has you racing to empty your hand by playing numbers up or down in the sequence across any pile that's already been laid down. Suitable for any Christian group!

Purchase

Redemption (ExcellentReview)
This is the longest running two-player Christian card game and has a wide variety of cards available to build your deck. The main drawback is the one-goal objective.

Redemption cardback.jpg
Purchase on Amazon or Cactus Games

Saint Cards Game (Excellent)
Play this UNO-style game while learning about the Saints. Even if you're not Catholic, you can still learn from the examples of these Christians. You can also purchase expansion packs to use these cards to play different card games.

Purchase on Amazon or SaintCards.com

Timestream: The Remnant (GoodReview
Here's another one by Cactus Games. I actually like it a little better than Redemption, even though it's not as popular, because you have more of an objective. You're traveling back to Bible times to witness Biblical events.

Purchase

The Mission (GoodReview)
Again from Cactus Games, this one is a completely modern game dealing with the contemporary Christian life: temptations and triumphs. It's the most practical Christian card game I've seen for daily application. They're sold out of starter decks, but you can build your own deck from the booster packs.

Purchase

Noah's Quest Christian Card Game (ExcellentReview)
This is a fun, competitive card game to help Noah build the Ark.

Principality (GoodReview

Fun Christian Party Games for Youth

Apples to Apples: Bible Edition (Good)
One person says a word and the others use the cards in their hand to try to best match that word. Like the original game, this version is hilarious and can be thought-provoking as well.

Purchase

Bible Scramble (Excellent)
This isn't your normal trivia game! You have to spell out your answers using the tiles before your opponents do or you have to pay up in shekels. And misspellings also earn you a fee. Once you lose all your shekels, you're out.
Purchase

Bible Taboo (Good)
Get your teammates to guess the right word by giving them verbal clues. You just can't say the most obvious words.

Cranium: Bible Edition (Excellent)
One of my absolute favorite group games. It has everything from charades and Pictionary to trivia and word puzzles.

Cranium Bible Edition
Purchase

It's All About that Grace (Good)
This is a simple game that shows that grace wins over sin every time. It's a competitive, tongue-in-cheek game that allows you to accuse others of sin when you have enough Good Works cards. You also have a chance to draw a sin every time you take a new card. If you're accused or draw a sin and don't have a grace card, you lose. There are other cards in the deck, however, that give you advantages and add to the strategy of the game. It pokes fun, makes you think, and is great for as few as two people up to a group of 6 or 8.

Purchase

Mad Gab: Bible Edition (Good)
This game is hilarious. You read a card that sounds like something but reads like gibberish. Your team then gives you clues to help you guess what you're supposed to be saying. It's a very neat concept. Give it a try!

Bible Mad Gab
Purchase

Parables & Miracles of Jesus (Good
This game combines some interesting mechanics, including guessing, math, and Biblical knowledge. It's best for an adult Bible Study or youth group, but you can take out some cards to make it easier for children to play too.

Purchase

Pharisees (Excellent
If you enjoy the game "Mafia," you'll love this even more. It's Pharisees vs. Disciples with each player assigned a different role, including people from the Old and New Testaments, as you try to figure out who the Pharisee is. It's great for youth groups and young adult small groups.

Purchase

Refraze: Christian Edition (Good)
This is another game that will make you think as you try to guess the name of the Biblical person or place from the strangely worded clue. There's no real strategy to the game, but it can be an entertaining and challenging game for a group of friends or a small group.

Purchase

The Road to Bethlehem (Good)
Watch the game trailer!
This is a board game mixed with a party game, which makes it a little more strategic than some other party games we've seen. Players will act out challenges as the game progresses, and there's also a lot of replay value in the various scenarios to try.
Purchase

Unauthorized (Excellent)
Watch the walkthrough video!
Being a Christian is illegal. Can you survive and keep your members loyal? This is a fast, fun game for a group of 6-12 players.

Purchase

Fun Christian Tabletop Games for Youth

Holy Lands (ExcellentReview)
A robust roleplaying system in a rich setting, the Christian answer to Dungeons & Dragons.

+ + +

Adventures in Odyssey and the Great Escape (Good)
Purchase

Platforms: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2005

The gameplay is fairly simple as you play through a series of activities from the perspective of being in a video game. The story is a great illustration of temptation and our need to resist it with God's help.

Armor of God (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Browser
Publisher: Mark Gossage, 2018

Here's a short Christian platformer game you can play right in your browser. Your goal is to collect the Armor of God while avoiding the spikes, making jumps across pits, and landing on moving platforms. It's a fun game that doesn't take too long and will give you a good review of the applicable passage.

+ + +

Axys Adventures: Truth Seeker (GoodReview)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Rebel Planet Creations, 2007

This is one of the best Christian video games in the Action / RPG genre. The graphics leave a little to be desired (it's a few years old), but the story is intriguing, and the gameplay is phenomenal. You're battling monsters with your sword and figuring out puzzles like you would in the best Action RPG games.

+ + +

BibleMan: A Fight for the Faith (Good)
Purchase, if you can find it!

Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: Covenant Studios, 2005

Based off of the episode of the series, you play as BibleMan and his teammates, defending the city against the Wacky Professor. Is it campy? Yes! That's part of what makes it fun. Also, the cutscenes are from the TV show, which brings back a lot of nostalgia for certain gamers. The only detriment is that gameplay can be a little slow, as you can only defend rather than attack.

+ + +

Bible Smuggler (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Browser
Publisher: Mark Gossage, 2018

In this Christian action game, you have to avoid the watchmen who are trying to prevent you from delivering Bibles to the houses. It's a fun, challenging game, although short because it was made for a game jam. There's no music, just some sound effects, and there's no story. This little game focuses on gameplay only. It's free, so give it a try and see how well you do on your stealthy Bible delivery.

+ + +

Break-Out the Bible (Excellent)
Purchase from Amazon or the publisher's website

Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: DivineGames, 2002

Bounce the ball into the pieces to score points and reveal the Bible verse and graphic. There are three difficulty modes that determine the speed of the ball and plenty of levels to provide for extended gameplay.

+ + +

Guardians of Ancora (Excellent)
Purchase on Amazon or Google Play

Platforms: Android, iOS, Kindle
Publisher: Scripture Union, 2015

This platformer that walks through the stories of the Bible is a very impressive offering for mobile devices.

+ + +

LarryBoy and the Bad Apple (Good)
Purchase

Platform: Game Boy Advance, PS2
Publisher: Crave Entertainment, 2006

Play as LarryBoy's superhero alter ego in this 3D platformer as you learn to fight temptation. The graphics are nice and clean for this title, and the story and gameplay are entertaining enough to still please a modern gamer.

+ + +

Light Rangers: Mending the Maniac Madness (Excellent)
Purchase

Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2005

The Light Rangers receive their mission from their mastermind Sunday School teacher and need to save the children of Angeltown from various sinful attitudes caused by the Maniac Brainiac. It's a great game with a good story, fun animation, and plenty of platforming action. There's also just the right amount of Christian teaching. As a bonus, you can play a Christian trivia game.

+ + +

MightyNoah Adventure Game (Good)
Play for free!

Platforms: Android
Publisher: Doroncreations Inc, 2018

This is a pretty fun reaction game. You swipe the ark left and right to avoid dangers and collect coins, health, and shields. The scenery and obstacles and varied and look great. The music adds to the sense of adventure. When the durability of your ark gets too low, you can either pay coins to restore it and keep going, or answer three trivia questions to keep going. You can also watch an ad, but there is no invasive advertising. I don't think this is a game that will keep your attention for long, but it's fun to try out and see how far you can get floating on the waters of the flood.

+ + +

Noah's Elephant in the Room (Good)

Play for free on Android or iOS!

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Salvation's Story, 2017

Ride Noah's elephant through the Ark, avoiding Noah's sons, who are trying to ruin his good time. If you want to a boost, you can memorize Bible verses and upgrade your elephant. It's a fun game to play around with, but don't expect it to keep your attention for long. Thankfully, it doesn't have to since it's free to play.

+ + +

Noah's Ark (Excellent)
Purchase (this one's pretty difficult to find!)

Platform: NES
Publisher: Konami, 1992

Play as Noah gathering the animals across all seven continents. This is a very loose rendition of the story, though, as Noah changes form with different power-ups and even fights some rather interesting bosses.

+ + +

The Pilgrim's Progress (GoodReview)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Scott Cawthorn, 2011

This is a fun game with simple but clean graphics telling the classic Paul Bunyan allegory in an RPG style. It's a good one for engaging action and your spiritual mind at the same time.

+ + +

Timothy and Titus (Excellent)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: White Knight Games, 2006

This is a great (but short) action game in which you control Timothy and Titus seeking to recover Pauls stolen letters. Now, who would want Paul's letters to be lost? That's right, there are enemies to fight in this game, but it's a fairly non-violent game with the human enemies converting to Christianity when you defeat them.

Card Video Games

Redemption: Victory at Hebron (Excellent)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Brethren Entertainment, 2003

This trading card video game was a real find for me! With a story and 3D exploration to go with it, this is the perfect game for anyone who enjoys card battling. The game still looks and runs great today.

Christian Jigsaw Puzzle Video Games

Bible Puzzle Game (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: BetterAppz, 2016

This game is good if you want to build up to a challenge. Each puzzle is divided into more pieces as you progress. The classical artwork is also a plus for the app. It looks like a slide puzzle, but it's not. You simply drag and drop the pieces where you want them to go. You can see the picture you're trying to create by pressing the Peek button three times per puzzle. The downside is that you can't choose which puzzle you want to do until you unlock it by progressing through the levels in the order the game sets for you.

+ + +

Christian Jigsaw Puzzle (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Kaya, 2016

I like this app because there's a wide variety of images to choose from and you can control how many pieces to break your puzzle into, from as low as 9 pieces to as high as 64. You also get 5 hints to help you if you get stuck. There are some ads, but they're easy enough to ignore.

+ + +

Christian Puzzle Game (Excellent)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Fun Apps and Games by SCHACH, 2015

I recommend this jigsaw puzzle game because 1) you can choose how many pieces you break your puzzle into, ranging from 9 to 100, 2) you can unlock new puzzles by watching an ad or waiting for a day to unlock it, and 3) there are a decent number of puzzles in a variety of styles.

+ + +

Daily Bible Jigsaw (Good)
Play for free on FacebookAndroid, or iOS!
Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2017

This is a simple jigsaw puzzle game with limited appeal and limited game time. What I mean is that all of the puzzles are of the "cute" variety, are easy to complete, and only offer one puzzle per day. That being said, that might be great for some people. Personally, I would like more variety in the picture styles. What I do like about the game is that it presents each puzzle with a Bible verse and allows you to save the pictures and share them.

+ + +

God and Jesus Jigsaw Puzzle (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Kaya, 2015

This is another jigsaw puzzle from Kaya with lots of classical images to choose from and the choice to go from 9 to 100 pieces. You can also close the app and pick up right where you left off, which is a nice touch that some apps don't include. There are ads, but they're not too invasive. You can also watch ads to unlock new puzzles, which seems fair to the developer. They need to make an income somehow!

+ + +

God and Jesus Jigsaw Puzzles (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: help7daysapps, 2018

This is a high-quality jigsaw puzzle game. The only downside is that you can't choose which puzzle you want to do until you unlock it by completing the puzzles that come before it. You can't even see the images that are coming up! And speaking of seeing the images, you can't refer back to the picture that you're trying to complete. Nor can you save your progress mid-puzzle.

+ + +

Puzzles of the Bible - Jigsaw Games (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Quizzes Divertidos YA!, 2019

In this jigsaw puzzle game, you can choose the size of your puzzle (from 16 to 160 pieces) and sort the edged pieces to one side automatically. You can also always pull up the image you're putting together for reference. Unfortunately, there's no way to save your progress if you need to close the app. You'll also get the random pop-up ad that you need to watch before you can continue with the game.

Christian Movement and Music Video Games

Purchase

Purchase
Platforms: PC
Publisher: Cloud 9 Games, 2009

With this "Rock Band" style game, you can have two instruments and two singers playing at a time. You can also play solo or versus mode, and there's a good variety of 40 popular songs to play. The only downside is that this game never had any expansion packs.

+ + +

Praise Champion and Praise Champion 2 (Excellent)
Previously released as Heavenly Harmony
Purchase
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Cloud 9/Left Behind Games, 2011, 2012

If you enjoy singing, you'll enjoy these games. With over 40 songs each and the ability to play with up to 4 people, it should provide a lot of fun for a long time. Each game comes with a microphone and includes a variety of songs. There are also mini-games to help you hone your vocal skills, and you can unlock outfits for your avatar to wear and different venues to sing at.

+ + +

VeggieTales Dance, Dance, Dance (Excellent)

Dance to all your favorite VeggieTales songs! This game comes with its own dance pad and a CD to play on any computer.

Christian Puzzle Video Games

Adventures in Odyssey and the Treasure of the Incas (Excellent)
Platforms: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2005

Get ready for a treasure hunt as you try to solve the mystery of Eugene's missing parents. You play as Eugene, Connie, and Whit in this puzzle game. There are also plenty of animated cutscenes and the great voice acting fans of the series love to help move the story forward.

+ + +

aMazing Bible (Excellent)
Purchase
Platform: PC, Mac
Publisher: Digital Praise, 2009

This is a different sort of game that has you moving a red and blue ball simultaneously through different mazes as you walk through the Bible. Each maze is different, and you can do different things to get through them, so you won't get bored easily. It's a fun challenge and a review of major portions of the Bible at the same.

+ + +

Christian Memory Game (Good)
Play for free!
 Platform: Android
Publisher: Foundation Mir, 2012

This game presents a good variety with 3 difficulty modes (which determines how many cards on the board) and three themes: Jesus, saints, or symbols. I would say that the saints theme isn't of much interest, though, unless you know who is being depicted in the pictures.

+ + +

Christian Puzzle - Bible Game (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: iDailybread, 2017

This is a game in which you slide the tiles around until you get them all lined up correctly to complete the Bible verse and picture. It's a good learning game because you constantly have to study the verse to put it in the right order. There's no sound or music to this game, though, which would make it even more engaging.

+ + +

The Game of the Bible (Good)
Play for free!
Platform: Android
Publisher: GrupoAlamar, 2017

This is a simple kind of game that will have you thinking. You have to match tiles from one side of the screen to the other, but you can only do so if they're not surrounded. There are multiple ways to solve each puzzle, and they get more difficult as you progress in the game. With 125 levels, this app will keep you plenty busy. Plus, it's attractive and has pleasant sound effects and music. The only downside is that an ad will play after you complete each puzzle.

+ + +

Heaven: The Game (Good)
Also known as Journey to Heaven
Purchase on Amazon on the company website
Platforms: PC
Publisher: Genesis Works, 2009

This is a beautiful game that, unfortunately (but understandably), has received a lot of hate. You play Joshua, an astronaut, who is taken to Heaven after your ship malfunctions. There, you solve puzzles as you progress deeper and deeper into the landscape of Heaven. It is a very Biblically based game. The problem is that your guide shows a little too much cleavage. But one could argue that in Heaven, we'll all be pure of mind and able to appreciate the beauty of the female form as God created it. Either way, it's definitely worth playing through if you can get past this one visual issue.

+ + +

Keys of the Kingdom (Good)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Inspired Games, 2011

This is a fun one for those who like movement puzzles. You solve the puzzle by blowing up blocks and moving the key to the lock. Sounds simple, but it does make you think. It also displays a new Bible verse every time you defeat a puzzle. The verses are the real Keys of the Kingdom.

+ + +

Pangolin's Puzzle (GoodReview)
Purchase on Android or iOS

Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: Hero Factor Games, 2018

This is a story-based series of challenging logic puzzles, perfect for when you want to exercise your deduction skills.

+ + +

Praise Block  (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: New Genius, LLC, 2015

In this movement puzzle game, you need to get the block that says "You" through the opening on the other side of the board. But there are other words blocking your way. These are the attitudes or sins that can get in our way of praising God.

The key for the puzzle is that you can only move horizontal blocks from side to side and vertical blocks up and down. You earn points based on how many moves it takes you to solve the puzzle, and each one gets a little more difficult. It's a fairly addictive game, and though there are a lot of pop-up ads, you can close them as soon as they show up.

+ + +

Through the Shadows: The Darkness Revealed (Good)
Platforms: PC
Publisher: True Light Games, 2014

This is a mysterious, immersive, first-person puzzler/visual novel that finds you all alone in a world seeking to find the truth. This is the first of what was to be a series of games that didn't continue, so, as the creator described it, you can think of it as the first novel in a series. It's still worth playing, but don't expect a completely tidy ending.

+ + +

The Tomb of Moses (Good)
Platform: PC
Publisher: Vidia Entertainment, 2009

This is a puzzle game with still-decent 3D graphics. Archaeologist Professor Fog has gone missing, and it's your job to go find him. Though not quite true to the Biblical understanding of where Moses is buried, the game still gives valuable information about the Exodus story and the man whom God used to accomplish it.

Christian RPG Video Games

Advent (Good)
Platforms: PC
Publisher: Omega Games, 2015

This is an amateur game made with RPG Maker, but I found it well worth playing this story-driven adventure. You'll play a party of heroes looking to find the truth about the Creator's prophecies and, hopefully, end a war. In the meantime, you'll level up your skills and gear and explore a wide landscape with lots of people to chat with. If you like RPGs, try this one. It's free. It does have magic in it, though, so it might not be suitable for all Christians.

Play for free on Android or iOS, or purchase for PC and Mac
Platform: PC, Mac, Android, iOS
Publisher: Scarlet City Studios, 2016

Wow! This is an impressive game, and I certainly hope Scarlet City continues the series. Right now, you can play through the first 3 episodes in which you help the Scarlet Man (Jesus) restore The Great Engineer (God the Father) to the throne of this steampunk kingdom. The graphics are great, the gameplay is great, and there is plenty of allegorical content referencing Biblical stories. This is a must-play game for any Christian gamer.

Play a variety of characters as you walk through the life of Christ, battling demons and Pharisees. It's a little strange to have Jesus "leveling up" to learn new miracles, but I understand doing it for the sake of the game. I also appreciate all the humor in the game.

Matching Video Games

Bible Crush (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: AC Company, 2017

This is a game that has developed over several iterations. The first release used images of Jesus, the Bible, the Ichthus fish, etc. and gave you random verses to read after you completed the level. This newest edition is a little more pop-culture friendly, using fruit and plants instead of Christian images, but includes a trivia question at the end of the level. Overall, it's very light where the Christian content is concerned, but the gameplay is fun, and the app is well done.

Bible Gems (Excellent)

Stained Glass (Excellent)

Publisher: Lightside Games, 2015

This match 3 game adds beautiful artwork and fully voiced Bible story narrations. I particularly enjoy the paraphrased Bible stories that the characters tell you. They're imaginative and add a fresh perspective to the Biblical text without crossing the line into too much speculation.

Shooter Video Games

Catechumen (Excellent)
Purchase

Platforms: PC
Publisher: N'Lightning Software, 2000

In this first-person shooter set during the time of Christian persecution under Emperor Marcus Aurelius, you play as a young Christian seeking to rescue your mentor from demon-possessed Roman soldiers. The game is light on story, but it has great gameplay, and the graphics still look pretty good. One plus is that when you defeat a human enemy, they don't die but rather kneel and pray in repentance.

Rionon: The Search for the Stone Statue (Excellent)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Disintegration Games, 2014

No, it's not the most technologically advanced game, but the story is very intriguing. You start out on the side of the pagans, looking for your country's stone statue that the Christians supposedly stole. Maybe if you could recover the statue, life in Rionon will turn prosperous again? The gameplay is great, and the whole package is a lot of fun, despite the slightly outdated graphics and development shortcuts.

Platform: PC
Publisher: Inspired Media Entertainment and LB Games, 2006-2011

These are cool strategy games that use spiritual weapons as you fight against the Anti-Christ and his forces. You run missions and establish safehouses for the underground church. The graphics are well done, and there's potential for a lot of repeat gameplay. You can also play online with other players.

The second game, Tribulation Forces, is more of an update and expansion of Eternal Forces. Rise of the Antichrist and World at War are true sequels.

Trivia Video Games

Bible Bingo (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: TWJ enterprise, 2014

Wow, this game is hard! But it's good if you're wanting to brush up on your Scripture memorization. It will give you a quote, and you have to tap the reference. If you miss three, it's game over. The nice thing is that you can go into study mode in which you can see the verses and references to prep for the next game. The only fault I found with this Scripture memorization game was the pop-up ads.

The Bible Game (Excellent)
Purchase

Platforms: Game Boy Advance, PS2, Xbox
Publisher: Crave Entertainment, 2005

This is a fun one to play with your friends. You're competing against up to 3 other players or the computer on a game show and answering trivia questions or playing mini-games for points. There's a lot of variety in the content and the mini-games themselves. The graphics have held up well for a PS2-era game. I'd definitely recommend it as a group game.

Bible Quiz (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: idailybread.org, 2017

Wow! This one is for serious Bible students. It will give you a verse (in King James!), and you have to choose which book it's from. It's great if you want a challenge, but this game isn't going to be for everyone. There are ads, but they're unobtrusive at the bottom of the screen.

+ + +

Bible Sorting Game (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Trevor Sinkala, 2013

I really like the concept and arrangement of this game. It presents you with words to put in order, according to how they're presented in the Bible. The first level, for instance, has you choose the order in which God created the different elements in Genesis 1 and 2. In the screenshot above, I was putting Jacob's children in order by their birth. It's a simple game, but it's a fun, unique trivia game.

+ + +

Bible Trivia (Excellent)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Games, 2019

There's a lot to like about this game. First, you can decide which category to answer questions from, including Basic Questions (easy mode), or to mix them all together. Then, you can challenge yourself with a game that allows you to get three wrong answers only or set it the game to 5 minutes. Once you unlock it, you can play for an endless amount of time. If you need a hint, you can use the stick of dynamite to blow two wrong answers off the screen. But if you do get a wrong answer, the game will show which is the right answer and give you the option to see the Bible verse it's taken from.

Bible Trivia Quiz Free Bible Guide (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Resources- Bible Truth, 2013

This is a simple trivia game. The only choice you make is how many questions you want to answer. Then, you have a timer for each question. At the end, it tells you how many questions you answered correctly in what amount of time. There's a good range of questions, so it's certainly worth playing if you enjoy trivia games. It also tells you the correct answer and the Scripture reference if you answer incorrectly. The best part about this app is that there are no ads. The "Free Bible Guide" part comes in when you have the option to give them your contact information and have them send you a printed guide about how to study the Bible. I didn't opt to do so, but from the topics covered, the guide does sound like it would be useful.

Bible Verse Quiz (Bible Game) (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: PetProject, 2017

This app has all the makings of a great Scripture reading game. It presents you with a verse in which there is one word missing. You tap on the letters below to fill in the missing word. You're reviewing Scripture as you test your knowledge. If you don't know the missing word, you can use the hint system, where you can choose to fill in a letter, remove unnecessary letters from your pool, or solve the puzzle. You'll also see the Scripture reference, so you can look up the answer on your own. The only problem is that there's a pop-up ad every few verses. It would also be nice if the supplied letters were in alphabetical order instead of randomly placed.

This is a great game for learning the books of the Bible. Granny will present the books in a jumbled order, and you have to crack the boards in order. When you crack one, another will appear behind it. You'll also hear Granny's instructions and encouragement, so that adds some humor to the game.

This quiz game includes difficulty levels, multiplayer, and various game modes to let you answer a variety of questions or hone in on specific topics. Learning the Bible (Good)
Play for free!
Platforms: Android
Publisher: The city of the apps, 2015

This is a fairly simple trivia app, but I like it. It gives you the opportunity to choose which book and chapter of the Bible you want it to quiz you on. Then, you can read the chapter before you start to answer. If you get stuck, you can look at the text again. There are also two modes, a test in which you answer questions and see your results right away, or Exam Mode in which you answer a series of questions and see your score afterward. Exam Mode is also timed, but it's a very generous time limit. The only detraction from this game is that it's been translated from another language into English, so some of the phrasing can be a little awkward.

Play the Jesus Bible Trivia Challenge Quiz Game  (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: RD Games, 2018

Despite the awkward name, this trivia app is a cut above some of the others. You spin a dial to land on a category for each question. If you don't know an answer or want reinforcement, you can click to see the passage of Scripture referenced in the question. You're also on a time for each question, so that adds to the challenge, and the sound effects and animations make the game more addicting than most trivia games.

Super Bible Trivia (Excellent)
Purchase

Platform: PC
Publisher: Planet 316, 2014

There are a lot of Christian trivia games, but this one stands out for its mini-games. Like some of the other trivia games above, this one uses a game show theme that you can play solo or versus other players. The mini-games are fun because they include things like Timeline, Who Am I?, and Name that Book, which I found particularly enjoyable.

+ + +

Versed (Bible verse game) (Excellent)
Play for free!
Platform: Android
Publisher: A Sling and a Stone LLC, 2011

Oohhh, I like that you can play different game modes (Reference, Verse, Fill in the Blank, and Books of the Bible) on three difficulty settings. In Reference, you read the chapter and verse and choose which of the four written texts match it. Verse is just the opposite. You read the text and choose the reference. In Fill in the Blank, you choose which order the words go into the blanks. The spacing in this mode is off, but it doesn't take too much away from the gameplay. The Books of the Bible game has you arranging the books in order that they appear.

Versed is a different kind of trivia game that lends well to learning Scripture. Plus, you can't lose this game. If you answer incorrectly, it tells you to try again. Going above and beyond what I've seen most apps do, Versed allows you to choose which translation of the Bible to use: NIV, ESV, NLT, KJV, or NASB. Plus, there are no ads. It's a completely free game with nothing to buy and no interruptions. The only thing I wish this app had is some music and sound effects.

Word Video Games

Bible Hangman (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: DRY9 Games, 2015

This is a simple game that's fun to play. I was always curious to see what word or phrase the next puzzle would be. And, of course, once you know what it's spelling, you're reminded of the book, person, event, etc. The app runs perfectly with minimal ads, so if you're a fan of Hangman, give it a try!

Bible Word Puzzle - Free Bible Story Game (Good)
Platform: Android
Publisher: idailybread.org, 2019

This is an upgrade of the original Bible Word Puzzle from idailybread.org. As you complete each set of puzzles, you get an animated picture of the major stories of the Bible and have the opportunity to read a selection of Scripture. You can also answer trivia questions for extra points. I found the game to be fun and addictive. Some of the phrasing shows that it was written by a non-native English speaker, but there are no problems understanding the game. The one detractor is that the words you're making in the puzzle don't seem to have anything to do with the Bible story.

+ + +

Bible Word Search (Good)
Play for free!
Platform: Android
Publisher: Christian Games, 2019

This word search app allows you to choose from 8 grid sizes, ranging from 5 x 5 to 18 x 18. You can also challenge yourself by choosing to play a timed game, or you can leave the timer off. If you get stuck, you can use a hint (doesn't cost anything) to see the first letter of one of the words you're looking for.

There is a pop-up ad after you complete each puzzle, but since this isn't a super-spiritual app, the ads aren't a big problem. The only real complaint I found for this one is that while every word is from the Bible, many of them are very obscure. I feel like the words in a Christian puzzle should remind you of a spiritual truth or an edifying story, not merely random names. Another plus would be to have all of the words for a puzzle come from one Bible passage.

+ + +

Bible Word Search - Free Word Find Puzzle Fun (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Agents of Tech, 2017

I like the variety of game modes in this app. You can play the standard word search game, opt to look for one word at a time, or play the timed version if you really want to challenge yourself. You can also choose which size your board is. In the above screenshot, I'm playing a standard game on a large grid. It's a fun, well-put-together game. My only complaint is that some of the words are too generic to remind you of anything in the Bible.

Bible Word Search Puzzle Game (Good)
Play for free!

Platform: Android
Publisher: Divine Trinity Apps, 2018

This is a fun word search game in which all of the words you're looking for will remind you of something in the Bible. There are three difficulty levels to play on, so you can set yourself for the challenge you want. There are also over 700 puzzles, enough for you to stay busy for quite a while. The ads at the bottom aren't too invasive, and the music isn't bad, either, so if you like word searches, give this one a try. It's free!

Daily Bible Word Search (Excellent)

Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2018

Here's another daily game by Planet 316. While it's still a pretty simple game, I like this one a little more because it's more than a game. After you solve the short puzzle for the day, it provides you with a brief devotional to read.

King Solomon's Word Challenge (Excellent)

Word Search Bible + christian  (Excellent)
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: XLsoft, 2016

I'm not sure why "christian" isn't capitalized in the title of this game, but it's a great app to play. There are three difficulty levels, and you can choose a category. For my first game, I chose King David, so all the words in the puzzle related to David's life. You can also click on each word to see some background on it and where it appears in the Bible, which is a fantastic addition to the game. When you finish each level, there are quiz questions about the category, another nice touch that makes this game about more than finding words. There are ads, but they're unobtrusive down at the bottom of the screen.
