LIST OF CHRISTIAN WORD GAMES
Board and Party Games
Apples to Apples: Bible Edition (Good)
One
person says a word and the others use the cards in their hand to try to
best match that word. Like the original game, this version is hilarious
and can be thought-provoking as well.

Babble (Fair)
Bible Blurt! (Fair)
This
is a fun, fast-paced game for groups. Players read words on their card.
When someone reads the same word, which happens fairly often because of
the limited word selection, they roll the dice to see who gets the
point for the match. It's a fun game, but interest wanes fairly quickly.

Bible Blurt! (Fair)
This
is another trivia game that makes you think quickly to come up with the
right word to answer the question. It's not too difficult, so it makes a
good party game.

Bible Charades (Fair)
Great
idea, but they tried to make too many cards to go with it, so a lot of
the clues are either too difficult to act out or guess. The best thing
to do is to go through and take out the more difficult cards before you
play.

Bible Scramble (Excellent)
This
isn't your normal trivia game! You have to spell out your answers using
the tiles before your opponents do or you have to pay up in shekels.
And misspellings also earn you a fee. Once you lose all your shekels,
you're out.

Get your teammates to guess the right word by giving them verbal clues. You just can't say the most obvious words.
Cranium: Bible Edition (Excellent)
One of my absolute favorite group games. It has everything from charades and Pictionary to trivia and word puzzles.

Guesstures: Bible Edition (Excellent)
A fun team charades game in which you race against the timer to get as many cards correctly guessed per round.

Mad Gab: Bible Edition (Good)
This
game is hilarious. You read a card that sounds like something but reads
like gibberish. Your team then gives you clues to help you guess what
you're supposed to be saying. It's a very neat concept. Give it a try!

Outburst: Bible Edition (Excellent)
Here's
a good one for team play. Each clue has 10 answers. Test your Bible
knowledge as a team to get as many of those ten as you can.

Refraze: Christian Edition (Good)
This
is another game that will make you think as you try to guess the name
of the Biblical person or place from the strangely worded clue. There's
no real strategy to the game, but it can be an entertaining and
challenging game for a group of friends or a small group.

Scattergories: Bible Edition (Good)
This
is a fun thinking party game. You have different categories and you
have to think of a word that starts with the chosen letter that round to
match as many categories as possible. If you think of more than
everyone else, you win. Just don't think of the same answer as someone
else or they'll cancel each other out.

Christian Word Video Games
Bible Crossword (Fair)
This
crossword puzzle has a variety of questions but could be seen as a
little difficult. I would have liked to have seen more hints about where
to find the answers. I did appreciate, however, that you can check your
answers and see the correct solutions when you're finished with the
puzzle.
+ + +
Bible Crossword Puzzle (Fair)
This
isn't a crossword puzzle in the traditional sense. The only clues you
get are the letters and the spaces in the puzzle. It's a fun game to
play for a few minutes as you test yourself to see if you can combine
the letters correctly to fill in the puzzle, but I don't think it's an
app you'll want to spend a lot of time on. I did enjoy the pleasant
music and the fact that I didn't see any invasive ads.
+ + +
Bible Hangman (Good)
This
is a simple game that's fun to play. I was always curious to see what
word or phrase the next puzzle would be. And, of course, once you know
what it's spelling, you're reminded of the book, person, event, etc. The
app runs perfectly with minimal ads, so if you're a fan of Hangman,
give it a try!
+ + +
Bible Word Cross (Fair)
Swipe
the letters to make all the words that fit in the crossword grid. The
letters then fill in Bible verses. It would be better, however, if the
words had something to do with the Bible verse. It's also too easy of a
game, so I lost interest fairly quickly.
+ + +
This
is a mobile game in which you rearrange letters to form all the
possible words while reading Bible verses and answering trivia
questions. It's a good combination of activities that becomes
increasingly challenging as you play.

Bible Word Puzzle - Free Bible Story Game (Good)
This
is an upgrade of the original Bible Word Puzzle from idailybread.org.
As you complete each set of puzzles, you get an animated picture of the
major stories of the Bible and have the opportunity to read a selection
of Scripture. You can also answer trivia questions for extra points. I
found the game to be fun and addictive. Some of the phrasing shows that
it was written by a non-native English speaker, but there are no
problems understanding the game. The one detractor is that the words
you're making in the puzzle don't seem to have anything to do with the
Bible story.
+ + +
Bible Word Search (Good)
This
word search app allows you to choose from 8 grid sizes, ranging from 5 x
5 to 18 x 18. You can also challenge yourself by choosing to play a
timed game, or you can leave the timer off. If you get stuck, you can
use a hint (doesn't cost anything) to see the first letter of one of the
words you're looking for.
There is a pop-up ad after you complete each puzzle, but since this isn't a super-spiritual app, the ads aren't a big problem. The only real complaint I found for this one is that while every word is from the Bible, many of them are very obscure. I feel like the words in a Christian puzzle should remind you of a spiritual truth or an edifying story, not merely random names. Another plus would be to have all of the words for a puzzle come from one Bible passage.

Bible Word Search - Free Word Find Puzzle Fun (Good)

Play for free! |
Platform: Android
Publisher: Agents of Tech, 2017
I
like the variety of game modes in this app. You can play the standard
word search game, opt to look for one word at a time, or play the timed
version if you really want to challenge yourself. You can also choose
which size your board is. In the above screenshot, I'm playing a
standard game on a large grid. It's a fun, well-put-together game. My
only complaint is that some of the words are too generic to remind you
of anything in the Bible.

This
is a fun word search game in which all of the words you're looking for
will remind you of something in the Bible. There are three difficulty
levels to play on, so you can set yourself for the challenge you want.
There are also over 700 puzzles, enough for you to stay busy for quite a
while. The ads at the bottom aren't too invasive, and the music isn't
bad, either, so if you like word searches, give this one a try. It's
free!

I
like that there are different sizes of grids to choose from. You can
select anywhere from a 6 x 5-letter grid to a 16 x 16-letter grid. The
only reason I'm docking this game is that you can't see all of the words
you're looking for at once. You have to scroll to see all of the words,
and that's not very convenient to the player.
+ + +
Daily Bible Word Search (Excellent)
Platform: Brower (Facebook), Android, iOS
Publisher: Planet 316, 2018
Here's
another daily game by Planet 316. While it's still a pretty simple
game, I like this one a little more because it's more than a game. After
you solve the short puzzle for the day, it provides you with a brief
devotional to read.
+ + +
King James Bible (Fair)
+ + +
Read
or search the Bible or play either word search or a version of hangman
in which you try to keep your sheep safe. It's a simple game, but it's
well done.
King Solomon's Word Challenge (Excellent)
Platform: PC
Publisher: Planet 316, 2014
This
is a cool 3-in-1 game, with Word Twist, Word Find, and Sling Words. In
all three game modes, you're filling in the missing words of a Bible
verse, which adds a lot of value to the game. As you complete the
levels, you earn resources to build the Temple and can actually see your
workers making progress on a fairly detailed animated rendition, which
is a nice touch.
+ + +
Reborn Crosswords (Excellent)
While
there won't be any new puzzles, you can still play the archive with
this app. You can also create your own puzzles to share with others on
your website.

Word Search Bible + christian (Excellent)
Platform: Android, iOS
Publisher: XLsoft, 2016
Publisher: XLsoft, 2016
I'm
not sure why "christian" isn't capitalized in the title of this game,
but it's a great app to play. There are three difficulty levels, and you
can choose a category. For my first game, I chose King David, so all
the words in the puzzle related to David's life. You can also click on
each word to see some background on it and where it appears in the
Bible, which is a fantastic addition to the game. When you finish each
level, there are quiz questions about the category, another nice touch
that makes this game about more than finding words. There are ads, but
they're unobtrusive down at the bottom of the screen.
